Fire Force Sets Anime World On Fire With Episode One

Fire Force Sets Anime World On Fire With
Its Fantastic Animation

The first episode of Fire Force has finally premiered after weeks of talk had been building up behind it. With a studio as famous as David Productions producing this anime, high expectations were there and waiting. Now that it is out, what can be said other than, "WOW!"

The beginning of the episode opens with a scene that sets up the enemies that our main protagonist will be facing throughout the series and we also get our first glimpse at Fire Team 8 and what they are all capable of. Through a downright extraordinary scene of fantastic animation, we get to see the extent of what our main character Shinra is capable of.

Throughout the episode we get flashbacks into Shinra's past and what has motivated him to get to where he is in the present. A terrible tragedy followed by a heinous misunderstanding has left him broken inside with a burning passion to avenge his mother and brother, whom he failed to protect from some mysterious being.

Throughout the episode the animation quality was top notch and incredible. The character designs are cool and detailed enough to be somewhat distinguished from each other. Each character has their own character quirk that makes their personalities stand out as well as creates some fun conflicts within the team. Right now Maki might be my favorite just because she reminds me a little of Sasha from Attack on Titan.

Along with the stellar animation, the opening song and ending song are both great and will definitely be added to my music list that I will have on repeat. The opening and ending both boast different art styles that very much set two different tones for the show. The opening has a very shounen type opening with a bunch of well animated fight scenes and beautiful visions of all the characters. The ending has a bit more of a haunting feeling, which looks very reminiscent of the show Madoka Magicka, which share the same director.

Overall this first episode was fantastic and I'm excited to see if this level of production will be able to be consistent over the 24 episode season. I am still waiting on Vinland Saga as I am writing this, but so far, Fire Force may end up being my favorite show of this anime season. Thank you for reading.
